One other thing about that China trip

I saw on Talking Show on Saturday that China sent Chen Yun-lin (陳雲林) and the vice-governor of Hainan province to meet Taiwan's VP-elect Vincent Siew when he arrived at the Boao Forum.

You know, since it's only polite to send out someone of equal status, right?

What did you expect the Chinese government to do, send Xi Jinping? China will never admit to Taiwan being its own country, even though all the evidence and facts say otherwise.

(Note: it was sarcasm...good catch on this note.)

Chen Yunlin is high-ranked enough until negotiations actually resume. Given Beijing's refusal to give any sort of recognition to Taiwan's "authorities," I'm surprised they didn't have Siew make do with just the Hainan province official.
