KMT will seek to chance CEC law
In order to get it's way on the referendum / legislative election ballot issue, the KMT plans on trying to amend the law again next session. The DPP has vowed to prevent it, even if it means starting a fight.

What's this law going to do, exactly? If it's a new one then surely there won't be time to pass it.
If it's the old one then it doesn't matter - that just creates a mechanism for allocating seats on the commission. There wouldn't be enough time to collect nominations, etc. Even after the election Chen could just reject any list of recommendations and insist on a new one.
It is the old one, and affects allocation of seats and creates a new 2/3 majority voting threshold for at least some decisions.
It would be fast enough to affect the Presidential election, but nto really the legislative one.
If it is passed, Chen should quote the Supreme Court's decision on the legislative stealing his powers and refuse to agree to any list that isn't 100% neutral (unlikely as the KMT wants the CEC under its control).
I actually like the 2/3 required for decisions part. Super majorities are cool.
I'm glad that they didn't try to jam it on to Friday's agenda - they should wait until after the election rather than have another fight.
